Somewhat shocking, yes. But much of the church also supported slavery, and fought against civil rights, woman's rights, health care, immigration, while defending the bombing of Vietnam, Iraq, and just about everywhere else. One thing for sure, the spirit has not led them into all truth, as promised in the Bible.
